Hey all. For various reasons I’m feeling a bit wistful today, so I thought it might be good to channel some of this feeling into showing you some words and phrases in the Chinese language that really have a sense of 诗意 (literally ‘poetic feeling’) and/or 画面感 (literally ‘the feeling of a scene’). Here’s some of my faves:
相思 ‘to miss / long for’
爱不释手 ‘to love something too much to part with’
留恋 ‘to be reluctant to leave’
离愁 ‘the sadness of parting’
一日三秋 ‘one day feels like three autumns (i.e. to feel like a long time)’
日久见人心 ‘time shows you a person’s heart’
